It was a perfect day for our June Pop-Up! It was sunny, warm and festive, with more workshops happening this month than ever!  

Participants at Kula Urban Farm enjoyed the FrontLine Arts' Mobile Paper Making Experience. Instructor, Daniel, taught the art of making handmade paper out of uniforms from the US Armed Forces and scrubs from frontline healthcare workers. The uniforms are cut up and beaten into a pulp. Sheets of paper are pulled from the pulp and dried to create colored handmade paper. These papers can then be used to create art, poetry, collage, or bound into book form. Witnessing the papermaking was like Art Magic! 

Music was in the air at Over the Moon Art Studios where there was an Open Mic! Teens were invited on stage to share their talent or just kick back and enjoy live performances! We had poets and young musicians impressing the crowd with their musical talents! One of the Rockit Academy singers gave us all goosebumps with her amazing vocals! In between performances, Samantha Treadwell hosted a Zine Making workshop. 

Along with music, there has to be dancing! At Konscious Community Center, participants learned the foundational movements and cultural roots of Latin dance styles! This was a high-energy experience where participants explored movement, rhythm, and self-expression while building confidence and connection with others. 

Those wanting a calmer space could learn to draw from a live model at Art629. Instructor, Brittany James taught gesture drawing, shading, and proportions of the human figure from a live model. 

At Parlor Gallery, folks were making Collage Self Portraits. Collagists cut, layered, and expressed what makes them who they are, while looking beyond the surface to tell a deeper story! 

Students learned how to set up sound for a live band in real time with engineer, producer, and musician, Alex Melendez at Asbury Book Cooperative. The participants set up the sound for local band, The Bliss Menagerie. 

Those more into fashion were able to design their own one-of-a-kind block t-shirt with local artist, Porkchop at The Art Spot. They chose from a collection of hand-carved linoleum blocks he personally created.  

 On the boardwalk, at the Asbury Park Art Club, students and their families enjoyed free Art à la Carte! Visitors selected their own project from a menu, making it a fun, hands-on activity for all ages. Projects included beach glass mosaics, bracelet making, air dry clay and more.
