2026 Arts Educator of the Year Jill Alexander

Jill Alexander consistently brings out the very best in her students. She challenges them to think critically, experiment boldly, and refine their artistic skills with care and intention. Through her mentorship and guidance, students learn not only technical skills but also confidence, perseverance, and pride in their work. The results speak for themselves: Jill’s students regularly earn recognition in county and state art competitions, a testament to both their talent and the exceptional instruction they receive.

Jill’s commitment to students extends even further through her role as co-advisor for the National Art Honor Society at Wall High School. In this role, she fosters a culture of artistic excellence, leadership, and service. She encourages students to use their talents not only to create meaningful work but also to contribute positively to their school and community.

Perhaps most importantly, Jill inspires. Students gravitate to her classes because they know they will be challenged, supported, and encouraged to discover what they are capable of achieving. She celebrates their individuality, coaches them through challenges, and takes great pride in their successes. Many of her students continue their artistic pursuits beyond high school, carrying with them the confidence and passion she helped cultivate.

Jill Alexander’s dedication, creativity, leadership, and unwavering commitment to her students make her an extraordinary art educator. She represents the very spirit of arts education in New Jersey, and we cannot think of a more deserving candidate for this honor.

Previous to this award, Jill was named Outstanding Educator by Monmouth Arts, and in 2025 received the Art Educators of New Jersey High School Divisional Award. She has illustrated two published children's books, and was presented with a Congressional flag by Congressman Chris Smith as the most active participating art teacher in the 4th Congressional District Art Competition.
