Film Making

The course is designed as a building block to develop a student’s career in filmmaking.
Whether a student is new to filmmaking or comes with previous experience, this class will help them develop their skills.
Each session includes hands-on projects that will address pre-production, directing with the camera, screenwriting essentials, camera operation, lighting with available light and introduction to editing.

William Mackanic, owner of Mackanic Media, began his career in motion pictures in the sixth grade. After being voted "Most Artistic" in high school, he continued his education studying Film and Television Production at The American University in Washington, D.C. He later graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Seton Hall University. After freelancing in theater and television production for ABC, ESPN and Fox, he procured a full-time position with Optimum Television Network, where he honed his production skills for over 15 years. Starting as a Production Assistant, he worked his way up to eventually being promoted to Senior Producer Director. His News Magaine show was nominated for 4 Emmy Awards, winning 2. Most recently he was the Content Creator for the Social Media Marketing Department at Six Flags Great Adventure, Hurricane Harbor and Wild Safari. William now lives his lifelong dream of running his own video production company, leading some of the most talented production teams in the industry.
